Scripture: Exodus 16:2-3, 6-7, 102 In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. 3 The Israelites said to them, “If only we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt! There we sat around pots of meat and ate all the food we wanted, but you have brought us out in to this desert to starve this entire assembly to death.” 6 So Moses and Aaron said to the Israelites, “In the evening you will know that it was the Lord who brought you out of Egypt, 7 and in the morning you will see the glory of the Lord, because he has heard our grumbling against him. Who are we, that you should grumble against us?” 10 While Aaron was speaking to the whole Israelite community, they looked toward the desert, and there was the glory of the Lord appearing in the cloud. (NIV)
Observation:
-Not long after the Israelites were delivered from their slavery in Egypt they were having some issues.
What was their attitude toward their deliverance (which should have been a joyous occasion!)?
Why do you think the Israelites grumbled and doubted God when he had just saved them from Egypt?
-The Israelites had a tough time dealing with their new circumstances; they felt that God had abandoned them to die in the desert.
Even though they had seen God (as the fire and as the cloud) and even though God had been faithful to them, they weren’t accepting God’s target (the Promise Land) as their own…they had lost sight of the goal!
Application:
Have you ever felt that God has abandoned you? What were the circumstances?
How did God show himself to you to let you know that he was still with you?
Do you know what God’s target for your life is? If you don’t, that’s okay! Just trust God that he has one, and be prepared to follow him wherever he wants to lead you.
Prayer:
If your life isn’t going the way you want it to, don’t just sit back and complain about it…if you’re having trouble believing God’s plan for you, tell him! God cares about what’s bothering you and he wants to know your concerns. Ask God to make his target your target, his goal your goal. Take a few moments and raise God for all the good things he’s given you.

"God's is a well thought out plan." Have you ever felt as if you were all alone in life, and no one was there to help you? I know I have, and it isn't easy. But even though you feel like you are alone, you never have been, and you never will be. God knew you, even when you didn't exist. He also knows you better than you know yourself, even though that might be hard to imagine. Just think, He knows how many hairs you have on your head without even counting them! But he also knows you on the inside, too. He knows what you will do, what you are doing, and what you have done. Even when you do things that make your parents or friends mad, He isn't angry, but sorrowful. So don't be afraid to ask him for help, forgiveness, or anything. He loves you more than you can imagine, and will help you. Just look for the signs, and let him guide you, for he is the almighty councilor.

I really felt this way last school year. I was totally miserable. I wondered why God put me in this situation, but his true plan for me was revealed later as I had the chance to move to a new school. Even when it seems like God's plan for you doesn't make sense, just hang in there, continue to be strong in your faith and eventually, when God is ready, you will know what he wants of you.
I am so proud of all of the Ignite students who made a life changing commitment this last Wednesday. It was an awesome event to see.
